West African Privacy Authorities Forum (WAPPA)

The West African Privacy Authorities Forum (WAPPA) is a regional initiative that brings together data protection authorities from West Africa. The main objective of WAPPA is to promote collaboration among member countries, aiming at the development of a harmonized approach to data protection in the region.
The CNPD of Cabo Verde has played an active role in WAPPA, participating in discussions on common challenges faced by West African countries, such as:

  • The strengthening of national legislation in compliance with international standards.
  • The promotion of awareness campaigns on the rights to privacy and data protection.
  • Technical capacity building and knowledge sharing among members.

CNPD's integration into WAPPA reinforces Cabo Verde's role as a strategic player in the region, contributing to the construction of a robust data protection infrastructure and to the defense of the fundamental rights of African citizens.
